We had a great day at Gettysburg for my hubby's birthday. This is one of his favorite places to be. When I asked him if there was anything special he wanted to do ( since he insisted on no over the hill birthday parties- can you guess his age :-) he replied, " I want to spend it with my family". So Cool. So we got on line and hunted down something he had not done in Gettysburg and found this wonderful Living History Museum. I didn't even know this until after we got there but they only do this once a year. I am so thankful to God to provide this for us. Even in over 100 degrees we still had a great time. We were told that this is the only museum from a civilian perspective in Gettysburg. It was fun for the whole family. After the play outside to begin, with the soldiers taking over the Shriver house, we then went inside and experienced what that would have been like. Awesome fun!
Pic's of all my "men" folk outside the home.
My hubby and me!
The confederates coming into town.
Picture from the attic, once they took over the home.
More coming into town...notice the bare feet of the one confederate soldier. At this point in the war they would have had very poor clothing and very little supplies.
Our terrific tour guide.
Mark and Jacob receiving some root beer.
Jonathan making a button toy.
Jacob getting bandaged due to a "head injury" :-) He was really helping his little brother have courage.
Picture of the confederate soldier before they went into the home. This was part of the play outside.
Picture of our Watermelon birthday cake! It was so good on that hot day.
Mark also was able to spin off his first batch of honey! What a great day he was able to have. I wish I had some pics of the honey extraction but alas...I do not. It was early and they went to a friends to spin honey together. Maybe next time.
