Hi Everyone! I just love meeting my friends and being able to share what the Lord is doing in my life. I haven't had much time over the past year but due to a very dear sister, my son, and my husband, who are encouraging me to post more, I am going to give it a try and I thought now was the perfect time as we begin a new study.
I have been so blessed by this comment this morning....Then the speaker said, “I just want to thank Jesus, because when I couldn’t pick myself up off the ground, He bent over and scooped me up and carried me His-self!” I clapped and amen-ed enthusiastically along with everybody else and then I started crying. Because I can remember seasons when I didn’t have the energy or belief to haul my raggedy heart up one more of life’s steep hills and our Redeemer carried me. ....The days that we are broken hearted or just plain tired our strength comes from the Lord. He is my strength and my God! Ahhh. Just love Him.
We are beginning a study on Proverbs 31. The encouragement from Goodmorninggirls.org has caused me to reach out to others to study this passage together. I am entering into this with all of my sons and it has been terrific hearing their thoughts on these passages. I will post a few things each week that have touched my heart and perhaps they will be an encouragement with you.
Here is our first few days: Hey everyone.......this has been so much fun. So far we have 3 of us to study this great chapter in the Scriptures. I thought I'd share how our week is going to encourage you ladies as you seek to study His Word and to teach your children. On Monday I received a lot of groans about beginning this study....but be encouraged, by Wednesday I have all willing partners. Praise the Lord! On Monday Jonathan informed me and yes I mean informed me that he did his own personal devotions. I had to chuckle. I told him he should keep that up but together as a family we were going to study Proverbs 31. All my sons are appreciating the method of SOAP. It is a wonderful way to help them pull out things from the Word of God.
The Lord has shown me many things from the passages we have studied so far but the thing that still stands out to me is that King Lemuel had a mother that was willing to teach him the prophecy or the Word and now he has made the teaching his words. If you notice in verse one it says,"The words of King Lemuel, the prophecy which his mother taught him." He has taken ownership of those teachings and now they are his words. This has encouraged me in my calling as a mother, in continuing to teach our children, even on those hard days like Monday when no one was eager and willing. :-) I was blessed by Justin this morning as he was doing his study I saw him going back and reading his journal from previous devotions and I knew that the Lord was going to encourage his heart.
I really enjoy hearing what each one has gotten from the verses and the questions they ask. Our funny story for the week is when Mark asked everyone last night how their Proverbs 31 study was going and as the older ones shared what they were learning about vs 3 and 4, Jonathan speaks up and says.....we are not to be lovers of women and don't drink. It was very funny coming from an 8 year old and the timing was perfect. We all laughed and I said, "well that was it in a nutshell". We had all these long deep answers but Jon's was short and sweet. Ahhh....the memories our children bring us.
Blessings!
Carrie
