Colossians Study

We are beginning our study in Colossians and it is gonna be good.  Of course all of God's word is good!
Good Morning Girls are beginning again for the fall and if you haven't checked it out and would like to, go to Goodmorninggirls.org.  Download a schedule and jump in......A friend of mine wanted me to jump in with them so I am trying to post in two places.  I'll see how well I can do but here is what the Lord taught me this morning......My prayer is that my transparency and weakness will show just how Great our God truly is! It would be great if everyone would think I have it all together but that is not the case...Colossians tells me that in Him all things consist and that includes me :-)  It is only Jesus that can hold it all together.

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

I see this whole passage opening up with Who Jesus is.... God.  After the opening verse we then see his relationship to creation....ALL things were created by Him
( Jesus ) not only were they created by Him they were created for Him. Not only is Jesus the author and finisher of our faith but He is the author and finisher of all that has been created, seen and unseen.   I can hear Paul telling the believers at Colosse this.....  You can almost feel his excitement as he lays out for us that Jesus was God, and then in the following verses it is as if he is saying...oh yes AND he was this, AND he was this.  Amazing.

Can you grasp how amazing this is......God first made Adam in His image to reflect Him and Adam failed......by one man sin entered the world and then our second Adam.....Jesus.....came.... but.... He did not fail, well maybe in the eyes of those who did not understand, hanging from a cross may seem like failure, suffering may seem like failure, yet it was victory!  Now through Him we can once again reflect the image of God because of Jesus!  Wow!

Not only were we created by him, but for Him.

I love this....the world will tell us to live for ourselves but God tells us we were created by Him and ......get this....for Him.  Individualism has its points but... when I loose sight that our individualism can only be on the right track when it is "for Him", then I loose sight of my purpose.....to know Him, to love Him, to serve Him, and to glorify Him.  The Him that gave so much that I might have life.  For me ...I need to surrender on a moment by moment basis.   Ask myself...Carrie is this truly for Him ?
