" God is God, and I am not." Quote from Bob Metze

Updated Photo with Light Room Edit by Lisa :-) Thanks!

Job 38: 1-3  Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:  " Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me.

I have been in the book of Acts but this morning I woke and had some things that were heavy on my heart.  Children...need I say more to a mom? As I entered into prayer God led me to the book of Job.  When I got to chapter 38 I chuckled to myself.  Can you see this? God is saying to Job " Come on Job, we've got some work to do!  You need to learn about My Sovereignty and then God begins to question Job, not expecting answers but showing Job how amazing God truly is.  End result for Job, fast forward to Job 42:1-6  Job saw God for who He was and saw himself also.  I love what D.L. Moody says here, " the more one grows in grace, the meaner he is in his own eyes."  William MacDonald's commentary says this, " In Job 1:1 Job is called blameless yet here at the end of the book he abhors himself.  This has been the experience of the choicest of God's saints through the ages."

Wow!  So thankful for how God leads and teaches us/me.   This is what The Lord has showed me this morning to share with my children and to take into my own life.  As a mom, am I sharing the Sovereignty of God with my children?  Do they understand that God is God and He has their best interest at heart, even though it may not always seem like it to us.  Do I live it, do they live it?  When trials come my/our way what do they see, what do I do?  Do I vent, Do I pray, Do I seek Godly counsel and God's word?  Then do we proceed on what God teaches us or do we go on our feelings?  Much to chew on this morning.  Since I have all sons...I still love the part....KJV " Gird up your loins, ESV: Dress for action like a man" In other words sons of mine...get ready to work...God has something to teach you!

There is a caution for us all, especially homeschooling moms who spend a lot of time with our children.  In the next verses in Job 42,  God speaks to the "friends." He reprimands Eliphaz and his two friends for misrepresenting God.  They had insisted that all suffering is punishment for sin.   That was not true in Job's case.  ( William MacDonald's Believer's Bible Commentary ) Then Job served as mediator by praying for his friends, and as a result judgment on them was averted.

I leave you with a quote from Bob Metze that he shared at CBC, after one year on the mission field, " God is God, and I am not."  And, Gary and Brenda Kramer on the mission field also, encouraged us with something that God was teaching them, " Is God Enough, when all else fails? "
